As a child living in a small coastal town, my parents couldn’t drag me away from the horseshoe crabs and sandcastles . As an adolescent, I would ride my bike to the bay outlet after school, just to admire the view and breathe the ocean air. If you were looking for me in high school, you could find me bumping over the sand in my 4×4 (in designated areas of course!), my yellow lab’s head panting out the back window. I have sand imprints in my skin and salt in my blood.

Any time of year. I love. The beach.

So it should come as no surprise that today my family and I live within walking distance to the ocean. There’s nothing better than a “long walk on the beach” with my man, despite the cliche! Our 8 and 10 year old boys go wild for splashing in the waves. And is there any better place to catch up with friends than with a great bottle of wine on the shore? Or when I just want to be alone? The crashing waves, tumbling rocks, and scampering wildlife offer the perfect refuge.

Rhode Island beaches are some of the most spectacular in the world, and this blog is dedicated to celebrating them. But our journey will reach beyond just these beautiful local shorelines to also explore other “hot spots”- the beach communities, the best beach restaurants & seafood recipes you won’t find anywhere else in the world, amazing Rhode Island residents, beach preservation considerations, recreation, lodging recommendations, and so much more.

So grab your clam rake and join us! We’re digging up the best of Rhody Beaches! =)
